2012 is over, finally! Not everything will disappear with the change of year, our economic ills of unemployment, crisis, debt, climate change... don't care much about our calendars, whether they be our annual calendars or our political calendars, but it's up to us to make 2013 rather than suffer it, so long live 2013, happy New Year, in 26 letters... up to you to fill them in as you wish.

Happy New AtlanticoI would like to pay tribute to this forum, and to bring us a fresh perspective on current affairs, a different view, to which I have had the pleasure of making a small contribution since the launch of the 1^er March 2011. This is my 95^ème editorial. 

Happy New BizBecause everyone needs it, new business, new development, new conquest, new contracts, new clients, new projects, new hires, new biz...

Happy New ChallengeFor new challenges, new projects, new horizons. We need new challenges, because Neil Armstrong, who died on 25 August 2012, would never have walked on the moon if John Fitzgerald Kennedy had not launched the Apollo programme on 25 May 1961; because we would not be celebrating 8 May if soldiers, launched in the extraordinary armada of Operation Overlord, had not landed on 6 June; because Europe would not have received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 if Robert Schuman had not dared to imagine Europe, and therefore reconciliation between France and Germany, as early as 1950, barely five years after the war. 

Happy New DealsTo win, to conquer, to sign new adventures. Deals, not half-hearted compromises between frustrated signatories who agree without being convinced. Real deals, those that are the result of reciprocal and enthusiastic choices. And if these new deals for 2013 were synonymous with an economic New Deal giving impetus to this famous new paradigm, then yes!

Happy New EnergyThis is because today gas and electricity are increasing, oil is increasing, but it is continuous. 2013, which will see the inexorable inflation of energy prices. Paradoxically, this price increase will be the best ally for the development of renewable energies, which have become profitable, and for the development of energy-saving innovations to preserve competitiveness and purchasing power.

Happy New FranceFor an ambitious and determined France, once again generating pride of belonging, glory and conquest, carried by each individual, servant rather than client. For a made byFrance conquering and open to the world.

Happy New GSpeciesIt is time to get out of it, so that this country stops occupying 80% of European discussions. Europe has other things to do than to consolidate the debts of all of us and to legislate on our every move. Europe is the world's largest market to be developed and used for the benefit of its citizens, and it is also a beacon that must enlighten the world with its experience of peace, its social model and its technological know-how. For an old Europe that is reborn and conquering, seen not as a land of asylum, zizanie and decline, but as a standard carried high and strong on the front of new horizons.

Happy New HopesHope is essential, especially a 1^er January. Hope for better days to work today, hope as an antidote to fatality. An individual hope, to believe in one's lucky star, in one's own American dream, but also a collective hope to avoid individualistic withdrawal, to contribute to the project, to see the other as a partner rather than a competitor or a scapegoat. Charles de Gaulle said that "the end of hope is the beginning of death", and the author of the appeal of 18 June 1940 must have known what he was talking about.

Happy New Innovations and Ideas, because the world needs to be reinvented, and because, if the future is for the bold, it is also for creators and inventors rather than for followers. Too often we live in reaction, in the short term, and in urgency, when we should be anticipating and foreseeing. Continuous urgency and immediacy lead to survival instincts and reflexes, which can only be a repetition of the past. Innovation is probably the most useful value today, and it is perhaps the one that is least known and valued, and yet, as everyone knows, electricity was not invented by perfecting the candle.

Happy New JobsThis is obvious. And if the balance of job creation is obviously negative in view of the evolution of unemployment, it would still be good not to always mention only redundancy plans and job losses, but also the creations and the sectors that are recruiting. There will always be job losses, and it is a delusion to imagine that unemployment can be reduced only by reducing redundancies, when it is above all the increase in recruitment that counts, and therefore projects, entrepreneurship, innovations, the capacity to export more than protectionism... we are not looking at the right indicators, the drivers of employment.

Happy New KbisIt is the sign of a positive, voluntary and ambitious desire. If we often say that we lack large SMEs compared to Germany, we also have, compared to the United States this time, much older large companies. To put it another way, none of our very large companies are less than 20 years old. In 2012, the number of business start-ups will manage to keep up, and probably even exceed 2011: at the end of November we were at 513,500, compared with 505,800 in the first eleven months of 2011. These figures are certainly still driven by auto-entrepreneurs (more than one out of every two start-ups), but a spirit and desire for entrepreneurship that is essential to economic and social dynamism.

Happy New LoveOf course. Not the "lol" that we see all the time, but Love, the only one, the true, the eternal. 

Happy New MsI would like to ask the media, not only the famous "new media", but also the "big ones" to give us better news in 2013 than in 2012, and to avoid being too often potted by the scum. Of course, a falling tree makes more noise than a growing forest, but please tell us more about the forest.

Happy New for a new 2013 that is new in every way.

Happy New OscarFor French cinema, following our national Jean Dujardin, which was a great moment of happiness in 2012, and because "Rust and Bone" in competition for 2013 is a pretty great film.

Happy New PoliticsThe reason for this is that the presidential campaign, the first few months of the Hollande mandate or the pathetic duel of the UMP have not made 2012 a great political year. Yet politics is still essential. Even if it understands (and this is its tragedy) that it cannot do everything, even if we understand the end of the welfare state (this is the tragedy of some), politics is also, potentially, a formidable showcase of voluntarism and exemplarity, a capacity to lead, to give desire, to give hope. Politics does not only aim to "tell the truth", which everyone already knows and some seem to discover, it has above all the duty to change it, and today to show that it has the capacity to do so. The current crisis is also a political crisis, a deep one, because it suggests that politics has reached the limits of its competence in its ability to act and to renew its solutions.

Happy New QBecause he's quite the new "Q" (pronounced Qwou) in skyfall, long live him.

Happy New RiresBecause we must laugh at least once a day, not mockingly and sarcastically, tense and critical, but frankly, joyfully, openly, beneficially, relaxing. Omar Si was recently elected favourite personality of the French (Ifop/JDD), proof that it was good to laugh in 2012.

Happy New SolidaritiesSolidarity is essential in times of difficulty, to think of others when everything leads us to think only of ourselves. Solidarity to help, heal and accompany, and not only solidarity to assist and heal. Solidarity that is useful and collective, even self-interested, because if each person can be useful to the whole, the well-being of the whole is also beneficial to each person.

Happy New UMP ... after hesitation. If it is still possible, it would still be good and useful! For a constructive and positive opposition, where ambition and ego are not synonymous.
