Who can participate? :
Students trained or made aware of biomimicry, either through a module delivered as part of their course, or through their own research or the use of content or training available online. From Bac+2 / Bac+3 / Master 1 / Master 2 and >. Accompanied by a teacher, tutor-referent for the competition.
Researchers or teachers in search of development and industrial and financial partners
Project leaders in the conceptualisation or business creation phase
Young entrepreneurs in the start-up phase
Entrepreneurs who have already started and want to take the next step.
Finalists or winners of other biomimicry competitions.
Bio-inspiration can concern forms as well as metabolisms, ecosystems, etc. but it cannot be limited to metaphorical inspiration, it must be explicit and be an integral part of the project, which must not be limited to a technical description but must explicitly demonstrate the benefit in terms of resilience or sustainable development.
All participating teams can exhibit their projects at Biomim'expo, but only the finalists pitch live!
The only restriction to avoid mixing the genres too much: in order to remain on projects in the launch phase, you are not eligible for the Biomim'Challenge if you have already raised funds or obtained subsidies. In such a case, you are in fact already launched and more concerned by the Biomim'Invest programme.
For student teams, the project may be carried out by one or more students, but accompanied by a teacher who must be mentioned in the application file. This teacher does not have to be an "expert" in biomimicry, but the competition organisers would like the teaching staff to be associated, informed and ideally involved in the students' participation.
For researchers or teachers, each can submit a project on behalf of their institution or in their own name. The project can be submitted by an individual or a team.
You will be considered a "creator-entrepreneur" if the legal structure is effective, otherwise you will be a "project holder". Either way, you can participate.
As a reminder, team presentation is recommended and desirable, as this is the state of mind sought by the organisers, in line with the philosophy of a collegial and multidisciplinary search for solutions.
Timelines, materials and selection process :
Minimum support: a file of max 20 pages/20 slides ... i.e. in slideshow ppt, keynote or pdf format so that it can be easily projected on a computer, tablet, screen ... you can show it more easily and this forces you to script your demonstration a little. The file can be written in French or English.
This is the "basic" support, which can be completed by a more written document, with separate images (5 maximum), a video (3' maximum), a poster, a model, a prototype ... up to you.
2021 calendar and application platform to be unveiled soon. (Biomim'expo will take place in October 2021)
