What is it?

A real opportunity for the future, biomimicry is a fast-growing approach with strong multi-sectoral potential, at the heart of the disruptive innovation strategies of many companies, research centres and innovative businesses, because it is at the heart of the new transition underway: saving energy; working in short circuits; reducing waste; rethinking agriculture; preferring circular to linear; fighting global warming; making our housing, cities and territories resilient; combining growth and biodiversity; working and communicating in open and collegial systems; ... breaking out of silos to innovate through decompartmentalised approaches, inspired by 3.8 billion years of R&D of living things!

Biomimicry is a forgotten fact of life, which is resurfacing with the limits of the affluent economy, the rise of scientific capabilities and the acceleration of societal expectations.

Biomim'expo is the major annual gathering of actors and stakeholders in biomimicry and approaches inspired by Nature to innovate and create the conditions for a renewed and sustainable development model.

The meeting place for all those who are looking to innovate by listening to the environment in order to respect it more, and listening to other disciplines in order to get off the beaten track, who are already working on approaches based on biomimicry or are simply interested in it and want to know more, who are keen to develop their network and find development opportunities.

A meeting point between scientists, researchers, engineers, politicians, entrepreneurs, financiers, etc.; between biologists, physicists, chemists, urban planners, architects, ecologists, philosophers, sociologists, etc.; between large groups, start-ups, public bodies, schools, universities, research centres, etc., because exchange and multiculturalism are innovation accelerators.

Biomim'expo, the meeting place to propose to rethink our development model and move towards a bio-inspired economy.

• Man and Nature have lost sight of each other, have isolated themselves from each other, and we understand that this can be fatal. We must find each other again.
• Ecology and environmental issues have long been presented as constraints or moral obligations, but in reality they are opportunities, solutions and allies of economic and social performance.
• Our era needs reconnections, between Man and Nature of course, but also between our own spheres, between research and industry, between ecology and the economy, between large groups and start-ups, between biologists and engineers ... these spheres need to speak to each other better, to listen to each other, to exchange. Our sectoral, disciplinary and community 'languages' are our new Towers of Babel, isolating us at a time when we should instead be building and inventing together.
• Nature offers us a profound paradigm shift, so that we no longer consider it as a simple stock or a constraint, but rather, beyond a sanctuary to be protected, a veritable laboratory for the world's most efficient technologies and an ecosystemic model of resilience. "It is not Man who will save the planet, but the planet which will save Man.

Biomim'expo proposes to be a connector and translator, a provider of bridges and decipherments, to better understand and translate the excellence of the living world and apply it to human activities, by creating an opportunity for exchanges between bio-inspiration experts and other stakeholders, economic, political, academic and industrial.

Biomim'expo is the new relevant meeting that brings together public, private actors and stakeholders around biomimicry, a new approach that is rapidly developing and that looks to nature and natural systems for inspiration in order to seek sustainable and innovative solutions to human challenges. Above all, Biomim'expo is an occasion to show and demonstrate the tremendous potential of biomimicry in all fields of activity, and to highlight those who do, and what they do.

It voluntarily addresses itself to a varied public, in order to break barriers and to become a place of high multiculturalism and exchange as accelerators of innovation. Scientists, researchers, teachers, students, engineers, biologists, urban planners, architects, politicians, chemists, entrepreneurs, financiers. And also larger groups such as universities, research centers, startups, schools, local authorities, etc. Biomim'expo offers for the first time to this diverse ecosystem a place of inspiration and an opportunity to meet and exchange through multiple showrooms, exhibitions, conferences, debates, workshops and animations.

The event is the result of an initiative launched by NewCorp Conseil (an events and institutional communication consulting firm specialized on societal challenges and promotion of research and innovation) founded by Alain Renaudin, with Olivier Floch, and in cooperation with CEEBIOS (Centre Européen d'Excellence en Biomimétisme de Senlis), represented by Kalina Raskin.
