The dynamism of business creation is an important economic indicator that should be followed and analysed during each monthly assessment carried out by INSEE. The latest balance sheet/cumulation at the end of June 2013 shows the following trends:
Decline in business start-ups in the first half of 2013 compared to the first half of 2012: - 3.7%
The total number of creations was 281,770 at the end of H1 2013, compared to 292,636 at the end of H1 2012. This is the weakest first half in 5 yearsThis has been the case since the introduction of the auto-entrepreneur status.
This decline in overall creation is explained by the fall in the number of creations under the status of auto-entrepreneur (-11.8%),
This fall is compensated by a reverse movement: thesignificant increase in the number of start-ups under the sole proprietorship regime (+23.7%).
We therefore observe in the figures a transfer from the auto-entrepreneur status to the sole proprietorship regime.
