The project

Within the exhibition, and more specifically within the Nature Generations Spaces, the organising committee wished, for the first time, to integrate the theme of biomimicry. NewCorp Conseil, a specialised agency that organises Biomim'expo, has been chosen to set up an exhibition on biomimicry, which will take the form of a giant fresco-gallery presenting a multitude of examples from the agency's Biomim'Galerie.

IUCN ?

IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, is a union of member governments and civil society organizations. It draws on the experience, resources and influence of its more than 1,400 Member organizations and the expertise of over 17,000 experts. IUCN is the world's leading authority on the state of the world's nature and natural resources and the measures needed to conserve them.

IUCN Congress ?

The IUCN Congress is the largest international event on biodiversity, held every four years. It brings together conservation experts from all sectors: policy, research, NGOs and major international organisations, as well as business and private stakeholders. The IUCN World Conservation Congress is the place where the world meets to define priorities and guide conservation and sustainable development actions. France wished to be the host country. https://www.iucncongress2020.org/fr

This giant fresco-gallery on biomimicry integrated to such an event was a first and a unique opportunity to promote biomimicry, its actors and stakeholders to government representatives, decision-makers, influencers, the media and the general public.

Content:

Taking inspiration from biodiversity to protect it.

Biomimicry is a method of innovation, it is also a philosophy, an invitation to rethink our relationship between man and nature, and a tool for rediscovery and awareness of biodiversity.

The proposed large-scale gallery at the IUCN World Congress has been resumed the educational boards of the Biomim'Galerie designed and produced by the agency.

These stories of bio-inspired innovations tell the story of biodiversity, fill us with wonder and propose a decisive change of perspective through this path of rediscovery of the genius of living organisms but also of the formidable interest in being inspired by them. Better knowledge, for better recognition and better protection.

Scripting :

1/ Nature as a key to entry - benefits and uses in results: As the World Nature Congress, the mural will showcase biomimicry starting from the living to illustrate the benefits of bio-inspiration for the great challenges of humanity.

2/ A narrative continuum From micro-organisms to ecosystems: from bacteria to ecosystems, 3.8 billion years of inspiration.

3/ A message as a banner. In giant capital letters, to "return" a message, and to be seen from afar.

A breathtaking and inspiring gallery on the genius of living things and the multitude of lessons to be learned from it through very concrete and diverse examples. An invitation to change one's view, to rediscover and rewonder biodiversity.

The fresco ...

  • It is an astonishing and inviting change in the way we look at the living world around us, a key step towards greater awareness and protection;
  • praises and teaches about the long term, in particular by evoking the 3.8 billion years of evolution;
  • explains via a few benchmarks that, of course, much remains to be discovered (we only draw inspiration from what we know);
  • shows that biomimicry is as much at the service of man as of biodiversity itself, that our destinies are linked and that biodiversity is the inspiring ally of a better world;
  • is complemented by digital content for additional information and explanations.
